Just catching up on the world. Have been out of the world for many months.
My condolences on the loss of your sister. I just lost two good friends on the
8th of this month on the 10th anniversary of my mom’s passing.
I just listened to Ravenwood and as usual am wowed at your writing. I think I can really get into this
New Story world

I hope her internment went well.Again, sorry for your loss. I had three brothers and my mother pass in 4 years, it hurt and was hard, but the hurt has lessened as time went by.
I also have had eye surgury. The last was around 15 years ago. I had black cataracts in both eyes. They did nothing for my blind eye. The eye I still had vision in was a different story. The doctor removed my lens and put i8n a man-made lens. The vision in that eye was restored to the point that it could be corrected to 20/200. In the last year, glaucoma has taken a lot of my remaini9ng vision…but I still read a little with my trusty magni8fying glass. Due to these vision problems, I truly appreciate all the books you have read to me. Don’t know what I would do without Podiobooks, iTunes and Audible.
Thank you for recording your writing and sharing the books you have with all of us listeners. I’ve loved everything you have read for our pleasure. You rock!

I had the same reaction to eye surgery – not only did I acquire working vision, I saw light in a more figurative sense.

Keep improving 🙂

Second one on May 20th. It’ll be a few days after that before I can do much if this first surgery is any indication.

The good news is that the improvement is dramatic. Not just in my vision but in my outlook.

I still need to get the next two Share books out in ebook ASAP … with the new eyes, I may well be able to do much more.

Let me get well and see how it goes. 🙂

About once a quarter somebody asks for a B&N version and Kobo is gearing up to be HUGE in international markets.

The issue with B&N is that the sales are SO small there and their interface is so horrible from the reader’s perspective that it just doesn’t seem worth it. In my case “an entire market of readers” is about 100. Total. Compared to over 25,000 on Amazon. It’s not that I don’t care about those 100 readers but if the choice is spend time with 25,000 or 100 … Granted it would probably only take 4 or 5 hours to deal with B&N – perhaps less now that Amazon uses epub as a pre-production step. And if I spend a day there, it won’t set me back too far compared to where I am now.

I’ll go back and look at Ravenwood – which is on both platforms at the moment. If the sales are more than 1%, I’ll put ZC on B&N.

I hope you will reconsider your decision not to publish on B&N. I don’t know how difficult they are to deal with, but you are losing an entire market of readers. From my perspective, I’m not only waiting on the podiobook version of Zypheria’s Call, I don’t have the option of buying and downloading the e-book version.

Letting go of a beloved family member is one of the hardest things in life, I think. I hope, like she did, you will find peace too.

Smashwords has been working on Smashwords Direct for a while now. When it launches (was supposed to be first quarter of 2013, guess they didn’t make it) you can upload .ePubs and .pdf directly without having to work with the meat grinder ( or book mincer, as I call it). Hope that will make your life easier.

Take care of yourself and the rest of the clan.
